    Killswitch is a cloud-based EV charger management and payment platform that lets you control access to EV chargers and collect payments using QR codes, RFID tags, or prepaid balances — with no subscriptions or setup fees.

    Killswitch is designed for hotels, parking spaces, residential buildings, retail locations, mobility services, and independent charger owners.

    Killswitch is ideal for independent EV charger owners and small-to-mid-size operators, including:

    Large network operators can also use Killswitch, but the platform is specifically built to be easy to install and self-managed.

Setup & Compatibility

  • add_circleDo I need special hardware to use Killswitch?

    No hardware is required if your charger supports OCPP.
    You can connect OCPP-compatible chargers directly to Killswitch using our free OCPP server.

    For chargers without OCPP support, Killswitch can optionally be used with a Shelly® smart switch.

  • add_circleDoes Killswitch work with any EV charger?

    Killswitch works with most OCPP-compliant EV chargers and can also be used with non-OCPP chargers via optional integration hardware.

    This allows you to use Killswitch with existing or new chargers, regardless of brand.

  • add_circleHow long does it take to set up?

    Most users can set up Killswitch in minutes:

    1. Connect the charger (via OCPP or using Shelly®)
    2. Generate a QR code
    3. Start charging

    No software installation or on-site configuration is required.

Payments & Pricing

  • add_circleDoes Killswitch charge a monthly subscription?

    No.
    Killswitch has no subscriptions, no licensing fees, and no setup costs.

    You only pay a small transaction fee when you enable payments and receive revenue.

  • add_circleWhat payment methods are supported?

    Drivers can pay using:

    • Credit and debit cards
    • Apple Pay®
    • Google Pay®

    No app download or user account is required.

  • add_circleWhat payment models does Killswitch support?

    Killswitch supports multiple payment flows:

    • Prepayment
    • Pay-per-use (postpaid)
    • Prepaid RFID tags
    • Deposits

    You can choose different models per charger or location.

  • add_circleIn which countries can Killswitch manage payments?

    Killswitch Paywall is available in all countries supported by the Stripe® Connect framework. This inludes almost all European countries (including the UK), North America (USA, Canada), Australia, India, Mexico and many others.

    You can view a list of supported countries here.

    Note: due to stringent legal and regulatory requirements, cross-border payment transactions and foreign exchange (FX) activities are restricted for merchant accounts in Stripe Brazil. This means that at this moment Killswitch cannot be used to receive payments in Brazil. We are working on enabling Killswitch Payments in Brazil as soon as possible.

Access Control & User Management

    Drivers can access chargers using:

    • QR code scanning (smartphone-based)
    • RFID tags or cards
    • Remote connection (manual)

    You decide who can charge and under which conditions.

  • add_circleCan I offer free charging?

    Yes.

    You can configure chargers for free access (QR or RFID) or combine free usage with paid charging, depending on your needs. You can also have paid access and use discount codes to reduce the price or offer charging sessions to special customers.

  • add_circleDo users need to create an account or download an app?

    No.

    Killswitch is app-free and account-free for drivers. Charging starts by scanning a QR code or tapping an RFID tag.

RFID & Prepaid Charging

  • add_circleDoes Killswitch support RFID tags?

    Yes.

    Killswitch supports unlimited RFID tags and advanced tag management features.

  • add_circleCan RFID tags be prepaid?

    Yes.

    You can issue prepaid RFID tags with automatic balance tracking, top-ups, and usage reporting.

    RFID tags can also be shared across sub-accounts, making them ideal for residential buildings, offices, and shared parking spaces.

    Yes.

    Killswitch allows you to manage multiple chargers, locations, and properties from a single dashboard.
